1. Initial Conversation
We start with an informal conversation about your home, how you use it now, what is not working, and what you would like to achieve. This is also an opportunity to discuss your budget, priorities and any ideas you already have, so I can understand the bigger picture before putting pen to paper.
2. Site Visit & Survey
I visit your property to understand the existing building, its surroundings and the opportunities it presents. Measurements, photographs and observations are taken so that an accurate picture of your home can be developed before any design work begins.
3. Initial Ideas & Concept Design
Using the information gathered, I begin exploring different ways your home could be improved. This may include changes to layout, extensions, better connections between rooms, improved natural light or simply making the existing space work harder for family life.
We meet again and the strongest ideas are developed into a clear design proposal, allowing you to properly visualise how your home could look and function. Plans, elevations and sketches are used to explain the proposal, and we can refine the design together before moving forward.
4. Planning
Where planning permission is required, I prepare the drawings and information needed for submission and guide the application through the planning process. I can also help respond to any questions or design considerations raised by the local authority.
5. Technical Design
​Once the design is agreed, the project can be developed into more detailed drawings for Building Regulations and construction. This stage considers how the building will actually be put together, including structure, insulation, materials and important construction details.
6. Preparing to Build
The final drawings can be used to help builders understand the project and prepare quotations. Where required, I can also coordinate with structural engineers and other consultants so that the design information is ready for construction.
7. Bringing your home to life

With the design, approvals and technical information in place, your project is ready to move into construction. The result is a considered home designed around the way you and your family actually live.
